The Young Advisors are a group of young people aged 13–18 from Calderdale, who work closely with Calderdale Safeguarding Children Partnership. We collaboratively work on issues that directly affect young people in their community. Our role is to identify key worries or challenges faced by young people and to take meaningful action to reduce or mitigate the impact of these issues. The Young Advisors influence how services in Calderdale safeguard, support and help improve the lives of children and young people in Calderdale.

Our work varies from creating posters and surveys, creative projects such as stress packs, and going to meetings and presenting our findings to professionals and services. This helps us to gain future skills and it is great experience for our CV.

To find out more about the types of projects we have done, please see the bottom of this page.

Our meetings are usually on the first Thursday of every month from 5pm – 7pm (date and times may vary). We get paid £5 an hour.

If you are interested in applying for the role of Young Advisor, please tell us your name, age and provide responses to the following questions.

Impact of Stress

In 2025, the Young Advisors focused on stress and its impact on young people. A significant amount of work and effort was dedicated to this project, beginning with the launch of a survey to explore whether young people experience stress, what contributes to it, and how they cope. The findings provided valuable insight into the lived experiences of young people and helped shape the direction of the project. Following this, the Young Advisors decided to create and launch stress packs to support young people in managing their stress. These packs include a wellbeing leaflet with practical tips, a stretchy man, squishy balls, a bendy pencil, colouring pencils, and a notebook. The aim of the packs is to provide young people with simple, accessible tools to help alleviate stress and promote positive coping strategies.
